Heard of Spreadtrum? Frankly I have not. Firefox obviously is unperturbed by the lack of brand visibility of the chipset maker and have plans to make good use of Spreadtrum’s SC6821 chipset for an proposed smartphone that would retail for as low as $25.
Though there are limitations to the processor like touchscreen support only up to 3.5-inch HVGA panels, lack of LTE, the smartphone would support WCDMA and EDGE networks and would include WiFi, Bluetooth, FM and cameras. The biggest boost would be the price factor and with a smatphone at $25 level, it is sure to crack the emerging markets like India, Brazil etc.
