Within a couple of years, OnePlus has become the largest selling premium Smartphone brand in India beating heavyweights like Samsung and Apple. It also is a fastest-growing brand in the premium segment and has managed to capture 40% of the market share in the premium segment (Price of over ₹30,000). With such an impressive performance and a large community here, it is expected from the Chinese Smartphone brand to start an R&D lab here in India.
Today, the company announced its first facility at Hyderabad. OnePlus also stated its India commitment and said the facility will grow to become its biggest such centre globally in three years.
The company noted that the facility will play a crucial role in the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning in OnePlus product and also drive innovations and features that would be relevant to its Indian users.
“The centre will also contribute to nurturing and giving opportunities to fresh talent as the company initiates the campus hiring programme at a number of universities including IIT Delhi and IIT Mumbai this year,” the company statement mentions.
With the spectacular sales in India, OnePlus seem to be fully confident of Indian operations and the R&F facility would find a synergy with the “Make In India” campaign and will bring more local acceptance from the consumers and all stakeholders.
