Meet Nokia Lumia 520: The most affordable Windows Phone 8 Smartphone

Nokia announced today at World Mobile Congress 2013,Lumia 520 it’s most affordable Windows 8 smartphone. The one way Nokia can still manage to crawl up and sneak up the OS wars is by conquering the entry-level and mid-level segments, where there are still more surprise battles to be won and strategies that could be tried.


Nokia Lumia 520 could help the Finnish company gather the user base and to make the Lumia range more visible. Lumia 520 sports a 4 inch scratch-resistant glass IPS LCD display with a 480 x 800 pixels resolutions that packs a cool 233 ppi pixel density. Running on Windows 8 OS, it is powered by a Dual-core 1 GHz Qualcomm processor and 512 MB RAM. It got a 8 GB internal storage which can be expanded upto 64 GB.

On the shooter side, it has a 5 MP rear camera with autofocus but no secondary camera. Nokia says the camera sports the same technology as in the premium device like 920. It comes with a smart shoot, cinemagraphs, panorama mode and filters.

With a 1430 mAh battery Li-Ion battery thrown in, Nokia promises a talk time upto 14.4 hours in 2G and 9.4 hours in 3G usage. For music buffs, it can play music for over 61 hours.

Yes, just like the flagship Lumia device 920, Lumia 520 can also be used with gloves as the display uses the same super-sensitive touch display technology.

Hong Kong and Vietnam would be receiving the phone in first quarter of 2013 and then it will expand to other markets in Europe, Asia including major Nokia markets like China and India followed by Latin America and Africa in Q2.

Lumia 520 is priced at an estimated 139 euros (US$184)
