Simply put, Mi 5 is the best looking device Xiaomi has come up with. The curved glass rear sweeps down the sides to seamlessly merge with the metallic glass frame. Xiaomi has taken care of fine details of ergonomics making it not just beautiful but great to handle too. A fine observation of the sides of the device shows the metallic frame is angular stretching towards the display, which would soak it comfortably in palms. Even the power and volume buttons follows that pattern. The camera is flushed to the surface without any bumps. At 129 grams, it is very light weight and at 7.25mm it has got the right dimension. Both the front and rear are also strengthened by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Performance:

Mi 5 is armed with the Qualcomm’s latest blockbuster chipset, Snapdragon 820. Combined with Adreno 530 GPU it scores high on gaming. In China, Mi 5 is released in three variants, standard edition, high, and an exclusive edition. In India, only the standard variant with 3GB of RAM is made available as of now. Though the base version is slightly under-clocked at 1.8GHz, it still delivers amazing, breezy performance. Gaming is butter smooth with brilliant graphics and it can handle any apps thrown at it.  It also has other bells and whistles like NFC,USB Type C, VOLTE, Finger print scanner on a physical home button, plus you can also secure apps and child mode with finger print sensor.

A strong point of MI 5 is the battery life. It can easily sail through a full day and delivers a very respectable 5-5.3 hours of SOT. It also offers quick charge 3.0 to fast charge the 3000mAh battery. In one hour it can refuel around 75% of the battery.

The Mi 5 is equipped with a 16MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture and Sony IMX298 sensor. The 6-element lens has a sapphire glass cover and the new 4-axis OIS offers amazing stabilization. At the front it has a 2-micro 4MP camera. It can take 4K videos. The Mi 5 is good overall at the photography department, it won’t disappoint you.
