Asus Transformer book TX300, which the company claims to be the world’s thinnest windows 8 notebook with a detachable tablet is launched in India for Rs. 91,999. This mashup between a laptop and tablet made its first appearance last year but took a long while to hit the stores which it did this May and now arrives to this part of the world. This hybrid features a 13.3-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display with IPS technology. The hardware internals include Intel i5 processor, onboard Intel graphics and 4 GB RAM. It must be noted that in selected market Transformer Book packs Intel i7 processor. Again due to the delayed release, the device has to be content with the third generation Ivy Bridge version instead of the latest Haswell fourth generation chipset. Interestingly, Transformer Book offers dual storage combination of a 500 GB HDD and 128 GB SSD for the notebook and tablet. The hybrid also features a 5 mega-pixel rear camera and a 720p front facing camera. Other feature worth mentioning include Bang & Olufson speakers that are powered by Asus’s Sonic master technology. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8 professional edition. The keyboard dock with touchpad features a 500GB hard drive, two USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit LAN and comes with its own built-in battery. The dual batteries include a 5000 mAh and a 3120 mAh. Are we impressed? The listing price of Asus Transformer Book Tx300 is Rs.91,999 which we feel is steep. Especially now that the device technically looks dull with the outdated chipset and the latest Hashwell chipset promises a great battery life in comparison. ]]>
