Back in January this year, Asus launched the Zenfone Max in India which had a beefier 5000mAh battery and offered a great battery life at an affordable price tag of Rs 9,999. Today, the company announced the upgrade to the Zenfone Max making it more powerful, offering double the previous storage and running on Android Marshmallow, all at the same price. Welcome, the new Asus Zenfone Max.
The difference between the Old Zenfone Max and new Zenfone Max
So what is new here? The new Max features the same 5.5-inch HD display (720 x 1280 pixels, 67 ppi pixel density) and retains the same 5000mAh battery.
The internals though see some good changes. The Snapdragon 410 chipset is replaced by a more powerful Snapdragon 615 chipset, which is a 1.5GHz octa-core processor and there are two variants to choose from 2GB / 3GB RAM. The internal storage is doubled from the existing 16GB to 32GB, which is pretty good. And if that is not enough, there is a provision to add up to 64GB via microSD card.
On the software side, the Zenfone Max is the first device from Asus to ship with Marshmallow out of the box. Hopefully, the older device will see now Marshmallow update rolled out.
The back also has a faux-leather panel which looks similar to the one seen in the Zenfone Zoom. The new Zenfone Max also is available in four color choices – white, black, orange and blue.
Asus promises a 38 days battery standby and on camera side there is a 13MP rear camera with laser focus technology and a 5MP front facing shooter.
While the 2GB variant is priced at Rs 9,999 , the 3GB variant has a Rs 12,999 tag. The older generation Zenfone Max would continue to sell and gets a Rs 1000 price cut and retails at Rs 8,999. At this price, the Zenfone Max looks like a good bet for those who prefer a longer battery life, the older generation Zenfone Max gave an amazing close to 2-3 days battery life and the new Max should continue that legacy.]]>
