Launched globally on July 11, Nokia Lumia 1020’s sole claim to stardom is its 41-megapixel ‘Pureview’ camera mounted on its rear. Ever since Nokia introduced Nokia PureView 808 with the massive 41-megapixel camera, both the Nokia and Windows phone fans were looking forward to Lumia device to come armed with the mighty camera and finally it debuted with the moniker Lumia 1020. After nearly two and half months of the global announcement, Lumia 1020 is launched in India today and would be available from October 11 onwards. The pricing of the Lumia 1020 will only be announced a day prior to its availability ie, on October 10. The highlight of the Windows smart phone is undoubtedly its 41-megapixel PureView camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.2, offering Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), backside-illuminated image sensor, 6 lens optics along with a Xenon Flash. Nokia has also included many camera features for enriching the imaging experience. Enhancing the Lumia 1020 camera functionality is a Pro Camera app that allows for manual adjustment of flash, focus, ISO, white balance, shutter speed, and exposure. Also there are lots of editing options included in the app. A dual capture mode shoots still images at 38 megapixel and at the same time while shooting the high-res images, it also takes a oversampled 5-megapixel images. Lumia 1020 comes with a 4.5-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×768 pixels. It is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and has a 2,000mAH battery, NFC and also a 1.2-megapixel front camera. There is no external memory card slot. but the 32GB of internal memory should keep the users happy. Other software features include Nokia Music, Nokia Mix radio, the Here Maps suite, Nokia Smart camera and Nokia Rich Recording. The Lumia 1020 runs on the Windows Phone Amber update, which brings features like Bluetooth 4.0, double tap to unlock and a clock on the lock-screen to the Windows Phone 8 OS. The massive camera on the rear also means the Lumia 1020 is bit thicker on the helms measuring 10.3 mm and weighing 154 gms. Lumia 1020 comes in three color options -Black, White and Yellow. Along with the camera, Nokia also announced the launch of two accessories for Lumia 1020 – a camera grip and wireless charging shell. The Nokia Camera Grip will be available for Rs. 7,500, while the Wireless Charging Shell will be available for Rs. 3,200. The camera grip accessory turns the smartphone to a profile similar to a point and shoot camera. Not just the ease of grip for camera modes but the accessory also packs a built-in 1,020 mAh battery for extra power for the Lumia device.
