The year 2012 saw over a 1.2 billion units being shipped, an increase of 29.1 percent from 2011. Thanks to its dominating Android smartphone presence, Sammy saw an eye-popping 119.3 % increase in shipments this year. Smartphones and tablets accounted for 60 percent of the year’s combined marketshare, that explains why companies like Lenova, HP and Dell who almost slept through the mobile-era were pushed way down in the race with PCs and notebook shipments dipping down by 4.1 and 3.4 percent, respectively.
