Transcend has launched the SuperMLC UHS-1 (U1) microSD card which offers a cost effective flash drives, performance of which is on par the SLC NAND flash. While there is no word on the pricing, the company says it will be on the affordable range.
Transcend launches Industrial grade SuperMLC UHS-I speed class 1 microSD cards
Taking the positives of both the Single-level Cells (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash, the SuperMLC technology has reprogrammed the two bits per cell of MLC into one bit per cell to enhance the performance. On the speed part, the new flash offers double the speed of MLC flash chips and gives a transfer speed of up to 95MB/s. While there is a compromise on the total capacity, it compensates it with the affordable price tag that in comparison to the SLC NAND flashes.
The Transcend’s new UHS-I U1 SuperMLC microSD cards also offers good endurance with operating temperature ranging between -40°C and 85°C. It also delivers 30,000 P/E cycles, ten times more durable than MLC NAND flash. In addition it also has features the built-in Advanced Error Correcting Code (ECC) and S.M.A.R.T. function ensure reliable data transfer and self-monitoring capabilities that offer optimum protection, ideal for demanding industrial applications.
Available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities, Transcend’s SuperMLC microSD memory cards has two-year limited warranty.
