Nokia today expanded its Lumia portfolio in India by launching Lumia 720 which will succeed Lumia 710. With a premium built and baked with the latest Windows Phone 8 OS and enhanced camera and battery Lumia 720 is well-equipped to take on any of the mid-end Android phones out there and beat them up too! Lumia 720 was announced at WMC 2013 and features a 4.3 inch TFT display with ClearBlack display technology with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution with a 217 ppi. It has a polycarbonate unibody design and typical of lumia lineage is available in vibrant colors. The curved laminated display offers a better readability and viewing angles. On the hardware note, Nokia Lumia 720 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual-core 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 8 GB internal storage which can be expanded upto 64 GB through a microSD slot, 6.7-megapixel rear camera + 1.3 MP front camera, 2,000 mAh battery. Lumia 720 boasts of a good imaging capabilities like it’s bigger siblings 920 and 820. The rear camera features a 6.7 MP wide-angle Carl Zeiss optics with a F1.9 aperture and a 1/3.6″ sensor size with backside illumination, that should give a good result in low-light situations. Additionally, it has an autofocus and LED flash. As far as features it comes with Cinemagraph and Smart Shoot plus geo-tagging, panorama mode and filters. On the front, there is a 1.3-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens that gives a wider coverage area and comes with a Glam lens app for taking self-portraits. As per the company, the 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery should come handy for a standby of 520 hours, talk time of 23 hours 20 min (2G) and up to 13 hours 20 mins (3G). It gives a 72 hours music playback. For a mid-range smartphone, NFC-enabled Lumia 720 even comes with wireless charging featuring with a snap-on back cover. The Lumia 720 will be available in India in mid-April, though the company has not disclosed the pricing yet.

CORRECTION Sensor size is 1/3.6′ not 1/1.36′!!! It’s hilarious how the sensor size can come close to even beat the n8 and come close to the nokia 808.
