Wakefit Innovations has wrapped up Season 5 of its Sleep Internship, naming Mumbai’s Jiniya Chatterjee the Sleep Champion. The company said she won a prize of about Rs. 9.6 lakh and a Wakefit-sponsored vacation, after a two-month competition that ended with a finale event styled on reality TV.
Season 5 drew over 2 lakh applications, according to Wakefit. After screening rounds and personal interviews, 10 candidates were selected and asked to maintain consistent sleep routines and track their sleep performance on a leaderboard over roughly 60 days.
Alongside the sleep tracking, interns took on weekly creative challenges, such as recreating famous movie scenes with a sleep angle and slipping the words “blanket” or “pillow” into conversations undetected. The weekly standout was named Pro Sleeper of the Week.
Ratnagiri Manikandan, Jiniya Chatterjee and Mehek Khot finished as the top three on the leaderboard, with Karim Khan from Hyderabad returning as a wildcard after winning the most weekly challenges. At the finale, titled Big Bedd, the four contestants recreated a reference bedroom setup from memory and bid a limited pool of points for elements of their sleep environment, including pillows, blankets, AC control, lighting and sound. A final night’s sleep scores then decided the winner.
Chatterjee came out on top after what the company described as a close score comparison.
“At Wakefit, we have always believed that good sleep is fundamental to a healthy, balanced life,” said Chaitanya Ramalingegowda, Director and Co-founder, Wakefit. “With the Sleep Internship, we wanted to take this conversation beyond the bedroom.”
Wakefit says the Sleep Internship has run since 2019, drawing over 10 lakh applications across its first four seasons, with 65 interns earning stipends of Rs. 1 lakh each.
Pre-registrations for Season 6 are open on the official Wakefit website.
