ZTE N919D, a Dual SIM (CDMA + GSM) Android Smartphone from the Shanghai based ZTE, was launched in India today at Rs 6,999 and will be exclusively available on Ebay. To entice the buyers, the company has bundled free unlimited mobile data offer for Reliance CDMA customers (both existing and new) for three months.
Here is a quick look at the ZTE N919D specifications:

5-inch (480 x 854 pixels) display

1.2 GHz quad-core processor

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS

1GB RAM

4GB internal memory, Expandable memory up to 64GB with micro SD

Dual SIM (CDMA + GSM)

8MP rear camera with LED flash

0.3MP front-facing camera

10.25mm thick and weighs 165.5g

3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio

3G CDMA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS

2500mAh battery

The above specs would have been interesting a year back but the low-cost handset segment has seen a paradigm shift recently with the likes of Xiaomi, Motorola, Lenovo and Indian OEMs like Micromax, Karbonn and Lava offering better specs at similar price range. With users more finicky about tech specs I wonder how many will be interested in Jelly Bean OS and VGA front-shooter (with Selfies a rage these days) at this price when there are better offerings in the market.
Our humble request to ZTE, look around the market.]]>

Chinese handset maker, ZTE has launched its once-upon-a-time flagship device, ZTE Grand S II in India, a good 1o months after it was announced first in January this year.
To be available exclusively on e-commerce portal, Amazon India, the ZTE Grand S II is priced at Rs 13,999 and still boasts a tall specs order in spite of chinks in its arsenal like outdated and dusted OS.
Let’s talk the positives first. The smarphone features a 5.5-inch fullHD display (1080 x 1920 pixels resolution) with a good 401 pixels per inch, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with a provision to expand via microSD card up to 32GB. The phone also has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera and comes with a 2500mAh battery. It measures measures 157x77x7.9mm and weighs 150 grams
If all that sounds good enough, the dampener is the operating system. The Grand S II runs on now antique Android Jelly bean and the company informs it has no plans to upgrade it to forget Lollipop but not even Kitkat. Even the UI which in the Grand S II is ZTE’s home brewed, Mi Favor does not cut ice in spite of the many software features, it lacks the finesse.
If we get a review unit on our hand, we will try to do a in-depth coverage of the device.

Just when you were excited with the entry of 5-megapixel front cameras in many smartphones, here is a giant phone (or term it phablet) with a 6.44-inch display and a 13 megapixel front camera to get your selfie-shots great! And it also boasts of a top notch specs.
In a media event at Beijing, ZTE showcased the dual-SIM Nubia X6 that is one beast of a device with a mighty front <del>horn</del> camera. The phablet has a 7.9mm thin metal body and matches it with a narrow bezels. The 6.44″ LCD screen has 1080p resolution with 344ppi pixel density. Nubia X6 goes guns blazing with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM and an options of internal storage that tops at a whooping 128GB. (do we still need a microSD card?!)
The talking point though is the 13-megapixel cameras both on front and rear. No partiality here. To put the rest of the front cameras to shame, the front camera also has backside illumination, video auto-focus and an f/2.2 lens. The back camera betters it with an f/2.0 lens, optical image stabilization and dual flashes.
Connectivity options of ZTE Nubia X6 includes 3G and LTE, including China-specific varieties, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and USB 3.0 with OTG. The device also has three noise cancellation mics. A 4,250mAh fires the battery power and one should not have any complaint over it.
Nubia X6 starts at CNY 3,000 ($485) for the base version, CNY 3,500 ($565) for 64GB option and the 128GB version at CNY 4,000 ($645).]]>
