Samsung used to be conservative when it comes to mid-range Smartphones, their innovations starts with flagships and then later finds place to the mid-range Smartphones or the A series. But with the latest Galaxy A9 they seem to have changed gears. They have introduced the world's first Smartphone with quad camera at the rear - the Galaxy A9 (2018). Incidentally, they launched their first triple camera phone the Galaxy A7 (2018) very recently and they have upped the number on the A9 with an addition of a telephoto camera.
The phone launched today at the "Galaxy Unpacked" event held at Kuala Lumpur has a 24 megapixel main camera with f1.7 aperture, one 8MP ultra wide camera with a 120 degree view, a 10MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 5MP depth sensing camera offering live focus all stacked vertically.

For the selfies, there is a 24MP selfie camera with f2.2 aperture. So that makes in total 5 cameras on the phone.

Display of Galaxy A9 2018:

the Galaxy A9 has a 6.3″ Super AMOLED display with a fullHD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,220px) and Samsung still resits the notch fad and many would be pleased with that choice.

Galaxy A9 chipset, RAM & Storage:

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 660, Adreno 512 and there is a 6GM and 8GB options, the later finding way to select markets. The internal storage is a generous 128GB for both the RAM variants. Further it is expandable up to 512GB through a microSD card.

Battery of A9 2018:

The Galaxy A9 2018 will house a 3,800mAh battery with fast charge support via USB Type-C.

Galaxy A9 Software:

As expected, the new A9 will come with Android Oreo with Samsung’s Experience UI on top

The colors:

The A9 2018 is treated to an unique gradient colour scheme at the back apart from the standard black shade. The colors shifts at certain angles. The Bubblegum Pink and Lemonade Blue turns from a darker shade to a lighter one depending on what angle you look at it.
The Galaxy A9 will cost 599 euros (approx Rs 51,300) when it goes on sale in the UK and Europe sometime in November. While Samsung has not revealed the India launch plans, it is highly possible the phone would land here in the coming months.

While much of India is waiting for the roll out of the 4G services by Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Jio, the company has already started retailing its Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) supporting handsets branded as LYF and the latest IDC data for the first quarter of Indian Smartphone market has some impressive rankings for the brand.
According to the market research firm IDC, Relaince has replaced Lava as the fifth largest smartphone vendor in the first quarter of calendar 2016 and more impressively is the third biggest 4G Smartphone vendor in India, behind Samsung and Lenovo. When they finally offer their LTE services which is expected very soon, the LYF handsets would witness further big upswing.
While Samsung continued its top position and Reliance making an impressive foray, it’s the Chinese OEM’s who are gaining traction at the expense of other Indian brands like Micromax, Lava and Karbonn. The Indian brands together dropped 20.4% sequentially while the segment itself fell by 8.2% quarter-0n-quarter.
Samsung, Mircormax and Intex still are on the top of the chart on the overall Smartphone sales, with Samsung leading 26.6% market share, with the J series accounting for 75% of their sales. Micromax inspite of the 17.9% dip in the quarter to quarter sales, still manages to be on the second spot and Intex managed to push Lenovo to fourth place again thanks to its over 15 4G models. Clearly showing the consumer preference for future proofing with LTE supporting devices. Lenovo might recover in the next quarter with K4 note and K5 Note Plus doing pretty well for them.
Xiaomi, LeEco, Oppo, Vivo and Coolpad are seeing good gains with Oppo and Vivo doing strongly in the offline channels and the others pushing their way up through the e-commerce sales.
It would be interesting to see how north Reliance can go once their LTE service is operational pan India.

Samsung is not giving up on Tizen and they are betting even high on IoT (Internet of Things) on Tizen platform. Last year they had announced The Z1, the first Smartphone to run on Tizen OS and they have followed it up now with Samsung Z3. Priced at Rs 8,490, the Z3 will be exclusively available via Snapdeal from October 21 onwards and also at retail stores.
The smartphone features a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz Spreadtrum quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. On-board there is a 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
On the lens side, the Z3 sports a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera, and a 2,600mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Tizen OS 2.3.
H C Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India said the launch “re-emphasises India’s significance as a key centre for innovation and development on the Tizen Operating System”.
The pricing of the Z3 raises many eyebrows, with so many Android devices with blazing specs in comparison to the Tizen phone in market and even Samsung having better Galaxy devices in this price band. It will be interesting to see how the Samsung Z3 will fare in the market. This is one phone we will definitely keep an eye but for a different reason.]]>

Rumour mills can bury now. Samsung has made Galaxy Note 5 official today at simultaneous press events in London and New York City.
As expected, the new Note adopts the new design language and materials Samsung tried out with the S6 and S Edge and no one complaints about it. So shedding the polycarbonate shell, the new Galaxy Note 5 is now clad in metal and glass enclosure and features the signature of the Note series, the S Pen that now packs more functionality.
While the display of the Note series has grown in every iteration, Samsung has put the stopper and retained the 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display size. Again true to their pedigree, the Note 5 is also a beast in terms of specs. It boasts of a Exynos 7420 chipset with a 14nm FinFET octa-core processor with four Cortex A57 cores running at up to 2.1GHz, and four more power-efficient A53 cores clocked at up to 1.5GH, 4GB of RAM, Mali-T760MP8 GPU. Incidentally, the Note 5 is Samsung’s first phone to be equipped with 4GB of RAM. There is a choice of 32 / 64GB. The downer? There is no expandable memory slot and surprisingly, Samsung does not talk about 128GB for the power users. Similarly, the 3000mAh battery is non-removable too. Again pushing the envelope further, Samsung has introduced fast wireless charging and the battery as company claims would go from zero to full charge in 2 hours flat.
Weighing 171grams, the dimensions of the phone are 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6mm. Similar to the Galaxy S6, there is a finger print sensor that can be touched to activate.
When we talk about the Note series, obviously the core focus is on the S Pen functionality. In Note 5, unlike the previous generations where we have to pull the S Pen from its slot, you just need to give it a gentle push and it pops out via a spring-loaded mechanism. It should be much easier this way. It also comes with set of new features. The main pick of course is the option to write notes right from the lockscreen. Yes, with the phone sleeping and without need to unlock you can just jot down on the black screen just like any piece of paper.
The Note 5 is also the first phone from Samsung to handle Samsung Pay. Initially to debut in US, it could work in any place and support any card as it works on both Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near-Field Communications (NFC) for transaction.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 features a 16-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), while up front there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Both the front and rear cameras are equipped with f/1.9 lenses. The Galaxy S6 had the best camera one can buy on Smartphone and there is no reason why Note 5 should disappoint.

Samsung also announced a quirky keyboard cover, that doubles both as a flip cover as well as a keyboard that seems to be working charmingly well.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 is officially announced today and pre-orders begin today at 3pm ET in United States, while official sales start in just a week, on August 21st. We shall update on the India launch date as and when we get the news.

Less than a month after unveiling the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge at WMC, Barcelona Samsung launched their twin flagship devices in India. Both the devices are a quantum leap in design of the Galaxy S series and marks a new design chapter for the Korean giant. The devices oozes premium factor, way too beautiful and has a beast of a hardware specs within. Here is what you should know about the devices.
Let’s start with the pricing. Samsung has got it right here. To silence the critics who crib about the quick drop in their flagship devices after 2-3 months of launch, Samsung says the prices are locked for 6 months and if it does drop, the company will refund the differences during this period.

Both the devices comes in three variants: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The Galaxy S6 price starts at Rs 49,900, while the Galaxy S6 Edge price starts at Rs 58,900. The Galaxy S6 is priced at Rs 49,900, Rs 55,900 and Rs 61,900 for 32GB, 64GB and 128GB respectively. The Galaxy S6 Edge, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 58,900 (32GB), Rs 64,900 (64GB) and Rs 70,900 for 128GB. Both the smartphones will go on sale on April 10. The pre-bookings has started.
Samsung has talked about the ‘Project Zero’ last year and its intend to begin from scratch its design language for the next S series. The S6 and the S6 Edge stands tall for how serious Samsung was in its effort to ‘rediscover’ its iconic flagship devices which fared badly with Galaxy S5. Everything is new about Galaxy S6 twins. Right from the design language and the choice of materials uses. Bidding adieu to plastic body for which it has been unabashedly criticized for many years, Samsung has crafted its new S6 devices in strong aircraft-grade aluminum and glas Ss with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protecting both the sides. The S6 Edge outwits the standard S6 in design thanks to its dual-edge sides but even the Galaxy S6 can has a flair on its own.
Both the S6 devices have a beasty hardware to boast upon. The 5.1-inch Super AMOED Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) display squeezes in a pixel density of 577ppi. Opting for its own Exynos 7420 octa-core (2.1GHz quad-core+1.5GHz quad-core) chipset paired with a 3GB of RAM, Mali-T760 GPU the devices are quiet a workhorse and the best in the segment as of now. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop topped with TouchWiz UI which has been overhauled and with reduced bloatware.
On the camera front, it features a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and a 5-megapixel camera at the front. Both the cameras have a f/1.9 aperture lens making it good for low-light photography. The front-camera also gets auto-real time HDR.
There is a 2550mAh battery in the Galaxy S6 and a slightly bumped up by 50mAh for S6 Edge which has a 2600mAh pack. For the first time, Samsung has included wireless charging capability to their devices. There is also a quick charging feature and Samsung claims a quick charge of 10 mins can keep the devices running for 4 hours and a full charge takes a flat 80 minutes.
Just like S5, there is a hear-rate monitor and finger-print scanner on both the devices but Samsung has bettered the finger-print scanner and it requires just a touch rather than swiping that was needed on S5. Connectivity options include LTE support, NFC, IR Blaster, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1.
With the curved display on both edges as the USP, S6 Edge is the pick of the both and makes good use of its quirky side screen. We can view notifications, ticker-news alerts, assign five different contacts with different colors for quick color notifications when you receive updates from them and it can also act as a bed-side clock.

Samsung is not delaying much time to bring their freshly minted flagship devices, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge into Indian market. Our sources says March 23, the company will officially launch the devices here and it is must be noted that the device was unveiled on 1st of this month at MWC.
Here is a quick run on both the devices. Widely acknowledged as the most beautiful Galaxy devices made by Samsung so far and introducing metal and glass to its flagship S series, both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge feature 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super Amoled display with a pixel density of 577ppi. The only difference being a dual-edge display that the S6 Edge flaunts, a bit similar to the Note Edge Smartphone.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge run Android 5.0 Lollipop with a watered down TouchWiz UI and are powered by octa-core (quad-core 2.1GHz+ quad-core 1.5GHz) Exynos processor coupled with 3GB of RAM (LPDDR4).
There is a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and LED flash while there is a 5-megapixel front camera on board. Both the handsets come with a bouquet of camera features such as quick launch, tracking AF, auto real-time HDR, f/1.9, IR detect white balance, low light video, high clear zoom, virtual shot, slow motion, fast motion, pro mode, and selective focus.
There is an upgraded fingerprint scanner on the home button which just needs a touch in stead of swiping unlike the Galaxy S5. Additionally, both the handsets will come pre-installed with upgraded Samsung Knox and also Samsung has bundled Microsoft apps like OneDrive.
The Galaxy S6 is backed by a 2550mAh battery while the Galaxy S6 Edge comes with 2600mAh battery and supports fast charging.

We don’t expect the Galaxy Note to come cheaper but Samsung launched today the Note 4 in India at a price that might send shock waves to even the biggest fan of the device. A MRP of Rs 61,500 and a MOP (Market Operative Price) of Rs 58,500 for the 32GB variant is really for the fattest purses.
The Galaxy Note 4 though comes with the best of the specs and features that money can buy now in Android world. We have the 5.7-Super AMOLED display with a whopping 551 pixels stashed in the QHD display i.e, a resounding 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. We are talking about the similar eye-popping brilliant display we saw in Galaxy Tab S but all in a 5.7 inch screen.
Clad with a metal frame on the sides it still retains the plastic faux leather back panel. It is 8.5 mm thin and weighs 176 grams.
It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 system-on-chip which houses a quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.
The stand-out of the Note series is the S-Pen functionality and we have seen it get better and neater every year. Samsung claims a better pressure sensitivity and few new features like S-Select that helps you in smartly and easily select the pictures, texts and works like a mouse.
The camera department holds up a 16-megapixel back camera with an enhanced optical image stabilization and a 3-megapixel front camera with a better low light abilities.
The front camera should also be a selfie’s dream with a 120 -degree wide angle with a ‘groufie’ feature to accommodate a whole lot of real estate.
With a QHD display, battery would always be a concern but Samsung has been able to muster enough battery juice in every iterations. Note 4 gets 3220 mAh battery and more importantly, the company says it can fast recharge up to 50 percent in some 30 minutes which is really good.
The Note 4 will run Android 4.4 KitKat with the newly spruced up TouchWiz UI on top. Connectivity options on the Note 4 are top-of-the-line too with Wi-Fi ac, GPS with Glonass, NFC, Bluetooth v 4.1 (BLE,ANT+), IR LED, USB 2.0, and MHL 3.0.
