Motorola is in a serious mood to shake the market with its aggressive marketing. It is doing to sub- Rs 1o,ooo segment with Moto E, what it did with Moto G to Sub-15K segment.
Officially launching the Moto E in a two global event held at London and Delhi today, Motorola now owned by Lenovo almost took everyone by surprise by pricing it at Rs 6,999 ($115)
Earlier when someone is on a tight budget (read: below Rs 10,000) and looking for an Android phone, they would settle with one of the homegrown brands or Chinese Handset makers. Else, they would look at low-end Lumia devices running on WP. With the aggressive pricing of Moto E, the heat is on and the consumers will be having their last smile.
The dual-SIM phone has a 4.3-inch scratch resistant display strengthened by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 540 x 960 pixels resolutions (qHD) adding up a pixel density of 256 ppi. Like Moto G, this device also comes with a water resistant coating to protect from water splashes and drizzles.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core chipset clocked at 1.2GHz and mated to Adreno 302 GPU and 1GB of RAM, Moto E runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The company promises feature updates, something rare to hear at budget devices. There is a 4GB internal storage out of which 2.21GB is user available and there is an option for expanding up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth, GPS and FM Radio.
On camera side, we are looking at a 5-megapixel rear camera but there is no front-camera. There is no flash either. A 1980mAh batter is slapped inside.
Contrary to the rumours, Moto E does not have a slim profile but rather is slightly bulky measuring 124.8 x 64.8 x 12.3mm and weighing 140g.
Motorola Moto E is available in Black, Turquoise and Lemon color options and you can also swap the back panels with motorola shells available in many vibrant colors.
In India like with Moto G and Moto X, the phone will go on sale exclusively at Flipkart from March 14 for Rs 6,999. Expect 50% off on covers and Rs 2000 worth e-books on the debut day.]]>
