ABB brings its dual-armed robot YuMi to the Make In India event

At the Make In India event, one of the key initiative of Prime minister Narendra Modi, ABB showcased its strong engineering and R&D projects and solutions including the world’s first truly collaborative robot, YuMi which was on display at the exposition. The Swedish engineering giant which was part of the Swedish pavilion also put forward the world’s first multi terminal ultra-high voltage direct current link that will bring power to more 90 million people. This solution is in line with the Prime minister’s vision of making the country energy sufficient and also give boost to renewable energy. In tune with that, the ABB demonstrated the locally engineered solar pump drive that makes irrigation for farmers grid independent. ABB with over 100 years of presence in India has been actively in tandem with the growth of Indian automation journey in various sectors. It was instrumental in the first HVDC project in India 25 years ago and also has set up the first pilot multi-source microgrid in the heart of Delhi last year, and also has been powering the innovative canal top solar project for the Clean Enegry initiative. YuMi is specifically designed to meet the flexible and agile production needs of the consumer electronics industry, and other small parts assembly and packaging applications. ABB says YuMi is designed to be work in collaboration with Humans rather than outdo them or replace them at work. OnePlus joins the Make In India chorus, Partners with Foxconn

It’s OnePlus India. The Chinese tech startup today announced its plans to start its first step in localization with partnering with Foxconn to assemble its Smartphones from India. It will make use of the Foxconn’s Rising Star facility in Siri City in Andhra Pradesh.

Talking about the India move, Peter Lay, Founder and CEO, OnePlus said “Today is a big day for us. Producing smartphones in India is one of the most important decisions we have made so far at OnePlus, and we are thankful to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Foxconn for helping us make this happen. India being one of our biggest markets worldwide, we are committed to a long-term sustainable growth path. This move will strengthen our presence and help us step up momentum in India,”

OnePlus added that their 30,000 sq ft facility at Foxconn has a peak capacity of 500,000 units a month and will be scalable to meet the local demands. The OnePlus’s Make In India initiative will also give direct employment to some 1000 people. The first batch of Smartphones will rollout by the end of this year.

Andhra Pradesh has been aggressive in getting the mobile ecosystem and has already got the head start with the Foxconn facility. “Our dream is to catapult Andhra Pradesh to become one of the hottest destinations for local manufacturing in India, and I believe with brands such as OnePlus joining in, that dream is quickly becoming a reality. The Andhra Pradesh Government assures all cooperation and support to OnePlus to help them cater to the growing demands in the India market.” – Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Honorable Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh.

Vikas Aggarwal, GM, OnePlus India mentioned the local production might translate to further aggressive pricing of OnePlus devices in the long term. “Local production will not only make our operations more efficient in terms of cost and working capital requirements but also help us in making our products available for sale much faster than ever before.”

Gionee Launches its first Made in India Phone in Vishakhapatnam

Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu who is actively wooing investors into his state. Gionee has sold over 7million devices in India and is looking at doubling the sales in 2015-16 with inventory rolling out from the Indian manufacturing facility. Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh said “With the current interest levels, I am hopeful that Andhra Pradesh will be producing 6-7 million phones per month by the end of next year. With our strategic location, best-in-class policies, conducive business environment and robust skill base, my Government is committed to building a robust electronic manufacturing ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.” Stressing on the importance of the India as a manufacturing hub, Mr. William Lu, President Gionee said, “We are very excited to have begun our India manufacturing. We would be working towards making India manufacturing a hub for not only India, but nearby countries too”

The dual-SIM 4G enabled F103 features a 5-inch IPS display with a 720p resolution, with Dragontrail protection. It’s powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.
