At World Mobile Congress, Lenovo showcased the Vibe K5 twins – the K5 and K5 Plus. While the later has been launched in India this April at Rs 8,499, the company is reported to launch the Vibe K5 this month. It would replace the hugely popular A6000, a phone that gave Lenovo a big footprint in the highly competitive Indian market.
Both the K5 looks identical. Both have a contemporary look and clad in metal. The differences lies in the display resolution and processor. While both the phones have a 5-inch IPS display, the K5 opts for a 720p resolution , while the K5 Plus boasted a fullHD resolution. On the chipset side, the Vibe K5 features a Snapdragon 415 SoC while the K5 Plus ships with a 616 processor. The rest of the specs remains the same with a 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card.
The camera set up again is identical with a 13MP at the rear and a 5MP shooter for selfies. The Vibe K5 also features a 2,750mAh battery. To cater to the audio enthusiasts, the Vibe K5 features the Dolby ATMOS technology and comes with dual speakers at the back and promises good audio fidelity. On the software side, it runs on Android 5.1
The K5 Plus was launched at Rs 8,499 and the A6000 was launched last year at Rs 6,999. While the pricing of the K5 is not known, I feel it would be around Rs 6,000. We will keep you updated.
Please note: In addition to our technology YouTube channel in English, TechRaman TV , recently we have also launched a channel in Tamil language, TechTamizha. If you understand the regional language, check the coverage news over there.

Less than a month after unveiling it at MWC, Lenovo has launched the K5 Plus in India at Rs 8,499 and it goes on sale from March 23rd onward, with no flash sales.
To consolidate its strong performance in the sub- Rs 10,000 segment (sub 150 US$) that it had conquered with its super hit models like A6000, A6000 Plus, A7000 and K3 Note, the Vibe K5 Plus is set to continue to the trend. Though the name is big confusing if we anyone had any idea that K5 Plus would be an upgrade to the recently launched K4 Note. It is not and is not part of the Note series of the Lenovo.

The K5 Plus is also the first metal bodies Smartphone in the lineup and boasts of dual stereo speakers at the back and along with Dolby Atmos technology. Lenovo has also included the TheatreMax technology it has previous introduced with K4 Note and Vibe X3, making this device also compatible with ANT VR headset and the user can experience big screen experience of the media contents with this technology.
The new Smartphone features a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, paired with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. There is 16GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. On the software side it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vibe UI layered on top.
On the camera side, the Vibe K5 Plus houses a 13-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera. The battery pack includes a 2,750mAh. The Smartphone will be available in three colors — Champagne Gold, Platinum Silver and Graphite Grey. It measures 7.9 mm in thickness and weighs 143 grams.
The K5 Plus will be a FlipKart exclusive and will go on sale from March 23rd and there is also exchange offers for those planning to upgrade to it from A6000 / A6000 Plus.

K3 Note was a blockbuster hit for Lenovo having sold more than 1 million devices in four months. To followup its success, Lenovo is gearing up to unveil the K4 Note. In a tweet yesterday, Lenovo India teased the upcoming new Smartphone with an image that proclaimed "Prepare for the dawn of the new #KillerNote” , with a tagline A New Age Dawns.

With CES, the global consumer electronics and consumer technology tradeshow just round the corner beginning in the first week of Jan, Lenovo might be very well unveiling the K4 Note there and the India launch might follow soon, in the month of January itself.
Update: According to a source familiar with the matter, Lenovo might not wait for the CES and the K4 Note will be unveiled before the event.
Though we don’t know yet about the specifications the teaser and various sources points to a metal frame , a metal or glass back , finger print scanner below the camera akin to what we seen in the Vibe P1m. We will keep updating you with more information as it trickles.

When the first Galaxy Note was launched people thought it was too big and it had only 5.29-inch display! The mobile screens has grown more bigger since then and going by the sales, people got comfortable with it. But how big can it become? Lenovo tests it now with a 6.8″ display and calls it the Lenovo PHAB Plus, almost on the borderline of a tablet.
I have come across many people who uses a 8-inch tablet as their phone, so clearly there is a demand for big devices. The PHAB Plus is a crossover between a big Smartphone and a tablet and will make a good media consumption device for watching videos, browsing or playing games.
The PHAB Plus is quiet equipped spec-wise too. To begin with the 6.8-inch IPS display has a fullHD (1080p) resolution packing a 326ppi. Internally, it has a Qualcom Snapdragon 615 chipset, Octacore processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM, Adreno 405 GPU and 32GB storage. There is also a microSD card slot thrown in to accommodate up to 64GB.
On the camera side, the PHAB Plus fires a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5MP front shooter. A wide angle lens and a pano selfie mode for groufies might charm the selfies. Further, you can also take 1080p HD video at 60 fps.
The dual-SIM PHAB Plus supports 4G and also gets a built-in Dolby ATMOS® 3D Audio soundbox that should provide a good audio when watching movies or playing games.
The Lenovo PHAB Plus is priced at Rs 20,990 and will be available on Amazon.in from October 5 and offline at all Croma and Reliance stores from October 12th.
Does the super-big phablet excite you?

Lenovo has been doing pretty well in Indian market what with A6000 selling 3,00,000 units within two months of its launch in India. Basking on the success, the company has outed yet another potential blockbuster model, A7000 today and this could also be very well selling like hot cakes and here is why it will.

Before we get into why it will be a sizzler, let’s look at the specs of the A7000. The latest in the Lenovo’s A series, the A7000 features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 267 ppi. Powering the device is a MediaTek chipset with 64-bit architecture and a octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, doing a tango with Mali-T670MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. On board, there is a 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. The dual-SIM A7000 comes with LTE support and out of box, it comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop topped up with Vibe UI.
On the camera side, there is an 8-megapixel snapper at the rear with autofocus and dual LED flash, a 5-megapixel front camera completes the setup. A 2,900mAh battery juices up the device which the company claims to offer 16hours of talktime and up to 264 hours on standby mode. The A7000 is also quiet thin at 7. 9 mm and light at 140grams which seems good.
So now the fancy word that would most likely to be talked about when someone speaks of A7000. The Dolby Atmos. Heard of the term? The A7000 comes with it and it is the first mobile to be equipped with it. To quote Lenovo’s words “Users will immediately hear the Dolby Atmos difference using headphones: sounds of people, places, things, and music become more vivid and move from all directions, including overhead, with astonishing clarity, richness and depth. Voices and noises have a broader range from highs to lows, with the greatest subtlety. The technology also makes playback volume more consistent across all types of content.”
Quiet a lavish description here. We will update you on the actual user experience but we can trust the technology to deliver a better audio experience than before. I was quiet happy with the A6000 ‘s Dolby audio and the addition of Atmos technology should enhance it.
So why I will declare A7000 to be a blockbuster? Let’s see the rivals. We have Yu Yureka, Redmi Note 4G and Honor 4X in this segment, all fighting out for the online retail pie. (Redmi Note 4G though has gone into offline mode too now)
On price scale, A7000 priced at Rs 8,900 is comfortably placed along with Yureka compared to the other two rivals which costs a bit more. While the pixel-count is not the only deciding factor of imaging capabilities, a 8MP rear camera compared to the 13MP of the rivals might shy away few people who might relate good photography with pixel count. We are a nation who loves music don’t we? So ‘Dolby Atmos’ might attract many audiophiles. Then, the Lenovo brand has a better identity thanks to their laptop range and with Lenovo slowly making their foothold on the mobile space, the brand gains a better leverage now.
My genie says all this points to a positive future for A7000 and mark my words it will choke the bandwidth on its flash sales days. We will keep you updated if it proves true. Also, watch out for our review pretty soon.
The A7000 is priced at Rs. 8,999 and will be available exclusively on FlipKart. Registrations for the first flash sale begins from today and the first sale is scheduled for 15th April, 2015.]]>

Call it inspiration, rip-off or just to irritate Apple, whatever the reason may be, one cannot deny the fact that Lenovo S90 looks very much like iPhone 6 and is launched today in India at Rs 19,990. Lenovo though would like you to think the Sisley as a super selfie phone thanks to its 8-megapixel front camera with BSI sensor.
The S90 features a 5-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution. Powering the Sisley is a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor paired with a 2GB of RAM. A 32GB of internal storage leaves no room for complaint. It runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat.
The big brownie points for the S90 comes in the camera department where it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera that will keep the selfies excited. The 13MP rear camera with PureCel™ sensor and the front snapper gets a BSI sensor and beautification modes. Clad in a metallic unibody, the S90 is svelte at 6.9 mm thin and weighs just 129g.
With LTE gaining prominence in India, the dual-SIM, S90 is equipped to handle LTE (FDD band). It packs a 2,300mAh battery.
The Lenovo S90 will be available in all leading outlets beginning today.]]>

Earlier we reported and showed the leaked images of an affordable LTE device Lenovo will be launching shortly in India and today at the CES event, the company officially took the wraps of the device, the Lenovo A6000 4G smartphone. It is also known that it will exclusively on Flipkart and likely to be competitively priced to take on the Redmi Note and Yu Yureka.
The smartphone is reportedly priced at $169 (Rs 10,500 approximately), however it is more likely to be priced around INR 8,000 when it arrives at this part of the world.
The Lenovo A6000 comes with a 5-inch IPS display with a 720p resolution and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with Vibe UI 2.0 skin on top. The hardware muscle includes a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GB if RAM. Also included is 8GB internal storage with a microSD slot to expand further. Other specs include 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, twin-speakers with Dolby Digital Plus technology and a 2,300mAh battery. The company claims a 13 hours of talktime and up to 11.5 days on standby mode. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, LTE support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0.
The A6000 weighs 128grams and measures 8.2mm in thickness. It will be directly pitted against the Yu Yureka and Redmi Note 4G, both are equally affordable but has a 5.5-inch display.
Though today’s announcement didn’t show the device to be compatible with the 2300MHz Band 40 (TDD-LTE) used by India’s 4G networks. It is likely when the device arrives here it will support it.
