No denying that HTC makes beautiful phones but struggles in pushing their devices to customers. Still it has not stopped the company for delivering one knock out product after another. After a wow-launch of their latest flagship device, HTC One M8, the company has made available in India HTC Desire 310, a much affordable device for Rs 11,700 but it is available for Rs. 11,350 from various e-commerce sites.
The device was announced earlier this year and made its debut in China, followed by announced of global version in Taiwan last month.
The dual SIM (GSM + GSM) HTC Desire 310 features a 4.5-inch display with a 480x854 resolution. The device is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor put together with a 512MB RAM. There is a 4GB internal storage which can be upped up to 32GB via microSD card slot. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, layered by HTC Sense UI 5.1.
On the camera side, Desire 310 gets a 5-megapixel rear camera with fullHD video recording ability and a namesake VGA front camera. (A 0.3-megapixel camera, seriously HTC? in the time of Selfie mania?)
It holds a 2000mAh battery and the connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, microUSB, EDGE, GPS, and 3G. Weighing 140grams, it measures 131.44×68.03×11.25mm.
If HTC hopes Desire 310 can take on the poster boy of budget smartphones, Moto G, it can only bank on the good looks as Moto G outstrips Desire 310 in almost all parameters.]]>

This was one of the worst kept secrets and almost everything about the phone was already leaked yet there has to be an official announcement and today the struggling Taiwanese company announced HTC One M8, their flagship device for the year. The follow up to what was undoubtedly the most beautiful phone of the last year, HTC One comes with the same brilliant casing and with double the hardware firepower and enhanced UI.
The 5-inch display is housed in a beautiful metallic casing, HTC says it has put in more metal in the new device compared to the last year's model. The 5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels, 441ppi) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protectio is slightly bigger than the 4.7-inch display of the original One and firing it is a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 Qualcomm processor and 2GB RAM that could handle with ease any beast of an apps in the Android world. The device run on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and comes with 16GB or 32GB internal storage and if you find that not enough, the device also includes microSD support for up to 128GB. Even more space hungry? There is also 50GB of free Google Drive space included.
Last year when most companies were pushing ahead the pixel race for the camera specs, HTC came up with a 4-megapixel ‘UltraPixel’ setup and this year along side the 4-megapixel camera it also has included a second camera in the rear. The second camera in the Dua Camera setup actually acts like a sensor to capture the depth information. What it does? In aids in post-production of image to give bokeh effect, blurred background and faux 3D style output. There is also a 5 megapixel front camera with a wide angle lens with a f2.0 apperture.
HTC One (M8) comes with front-facing dual stereo speakers and amplifier. HTC claims the new speakers offer 25% better sound than the ones on the phone's predecessor. Battery sees a slight bump from 2,300mAh to 2,600mAh. There are also new gesture controls to quick access time, blinkfeed and widgets without having to wake up the screen first. The camera can also be quick launched using the volume keys. On the software side, as mentioned earlier the device tastes the latest Android KitKat, laced with the company's new Sense UI 6.0
HTC tries to stay abreast for the new flagship cycle with updates to the hardware specs and enhancing the UI and adding more tweaks to its camera department.

HTC also announced a new perforated Dot View flip case for the new HTC One. The case has a perforations on the front and interacts with the screen, displaying basic information like the time and alerts even while closed. It is available for $49.9.
The company did not announce the pricing of the device but said the new HTC One booking starts from Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET, and it’s available in silver, gun metal and gold finishes. It will be available in stores from April 10 and will also arrive in India the same month.]]>

Back in February 20, HTC unveiled its flagship device HTC One and today the company launched the premium device in the Indian market at a MOP price of Rs. 42,900.

HTC One features a 4.7 inch display, 1080 pixel Super LCD 3 display with an eye-popping 468 dpi and protected by Gorilla Glass 2. An aluminum uni-body wraps the premium device and is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 600, clocked here at 1.7GHz and paired with 2GB RAM and flavored by Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with a brand new HTC Sense 5 UI overlay.
Interestingly, HTC One features stereo speakers, each with a dedicated proprietary amp design that minimizes distortion and maximizes volume.
The camera gets a curious treatment. The main rear camera features a 4 MP camera, which might shock many people who are used to higher mega pixels in the recent premium smartphones. But HTC promises it’s ‘Ultra Pixel’ technology would deliver better results than the higher pixel cameras. On the front, it has a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera capable of recording 1080p video on the top right.
HTC One in India comes with 32GB of non-expandable storage. The company did not disclose if and when the 64 GB model available in many other market would hit the shelves here.
HTC One promises exciting features like Blinkfeed, Zoe share etc.
HTC One weighs 143 grams and measures 5.4 (137.4mm) x 2.7 (68.2mm) x 0.37 (9.3mm) inches.

Chucking the polycarbonate body (plastic is plastic, any day right? polycarbonate or otherwise) HTC has gone for a superior premium fashion dressing, an aluminum unibody design. Weighing 143 grams and measuring 5.4 (137.4mm) x 2.7 (68.2mm) x 0.37 (9.3mm) inches, I would bet it to be a show-stopper. In a true craftsmanship indicator it is said it takes 200 minutes to machine one shell and the resultant block of aluminium unibody with white polycarbonate injects and glass slab on top is one masterpiece. Sure, HTC is betting on buckets on its Android smartphone future on this One device.

On the front you have two aluminum bands on top and bottom of the 4.7 inch Gorilla glass 2 that features a 1080 pixel (468 dpi) Super LCD 3 display. Look at the image closely, you would find identical perforations on both top and bottom. Yes, HTC One features stereo speakers, each with a dedicated proprietary amp design that minimizes distortion and maximizes volume.

On the bottom you see a prominent HTC logo and two capacitive buttons. Yes, you read it right. Just two instead of the usual three. back on the left and home on the right. Long pressing the home brings the google now and double tapping shows the recent apps. HTC’s new found love for Zen. More of it you will find out further.
There also rests a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera capable of recording 1080p video on the top right.
The back of ONE has a nice accent and plastered with HTC and beats logo but the most important feature over here is the rear camera that HTC calls as Ultrapixel camera and a single LED flash. After Nokia’s PureView technology, HTC’s Ultrapixel camera might be the most industry-talked feature in that unlike PureView’s monster 41 pixel number, here HTC’s Ultrapixel camera packs a 4 MP camera. Yes, you read it right again. When other manufacturers are racing for cramming more mega pixels to their inventory of thin smartphones, HTC’s 4 mega pixel ultrapixel camera might be hard fact to digest but HTC promises its technology would deliver better results than the higher pixel cameras. Ok, am sure it is going to confuse consumers with this radical approach and might have to invest pretty lot in ‘educating’ the people that bigger the pixel is not always better quality.
The trick here is a very large sensor capable of gathering 330% more light mated with a 28mm f/2.0 autofocus lens and with the help of HTC’s Imagechip 2 promises a better quality of pictures. Ok, allow us to digest the fact a bit and come up with a detailed post on HTC’s Ultrapixel camera shortly. The bottom line you would be interested is don’t under-estimate the 4 mega pixel, HTC promises to deliver more and better than the current rivals with 8 MP and 13 MP shooters. And then there is Zoe share feature bundled in camera app, we will talk about it further down in software part.

The Software – Sense 5 on a Zen mode

HTC One runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. That is stale news and much expected. The real news is the way Sense 5 works on it. HTC has again betted on a radical shift and has de-cluttered the Android experience. Taking a Zen like approach, that began with opting for two capacitive keys instead of three. The ‘holy’ app grid you see on homescreens has got a minimalistic makeover. You see a grid of nine app cards with three x three fashion. Would that be enough, not for me though. But then this is default and you can customize it. Again, no more 5 or 7 homescreens. By default, there will only be two home screen panels out of the box: a “BlinkFeed” page and a classic Android home screen on the right. Don’t fret, this too can be customized incase you want more screens.
BlinkFeed! The homescreen is by default positioned to blinkfeed screen. Visualize it as a Flipboard. HTC thinks it would be good for you to browse some infos rather than staring at a clock widget or weather widget. This BlinkFeed pulls in content from various publications and social networks for your info-consumption on a quick glance. The feed can be customized a bit and it auto-refreshes every 2 hours over mobile network and more frequently on Wi-Fi. HTC says its an inital version and it plans to open the API for developers to weave an ecosystem around it. For that ofcourse, HTC would hope the One would sell bucketloads. Again, incase you don’t want information overload, you can choose for good old android style homescreen you were always familiar with.
Sense TV app . It actually is a universal remote software with the IR blaster embedded within the phone’s power button.
There are also quiet a nice upgrades to media apps including the music app.
Zoe Share Zoe me, Zoe now! What is Zoe share?! Zoe is a cool feature attached to the camera app. This feature captures a 3-second 1080p 30fps H.264 video clip along with a 16:9 2688×1520 JPEG picture each time the shutter button is pressed. In burst mode, the HTC One is capable of taking 4-5 full-size stills per second while recording 1080p video. So what does this ‘zoe effect’ does with the 3-second clip? It converts them into a nice animated thumbnails for your photos in your gallery. Not just that. You can convert your content into rich reels with images, animation, music and effects added on a fly with cools syncs and upload it via Zoe share. It gives you an URL of your published content that would expire in 30 days. This app sounds quiet a fun to fiddle around.
On a final early note, HTC One does look like a ONE device HTC can bank upon. What you think? Will this be enough to tide HTC’s difficult times? Does it stand as a ONE device in the market now?
We will keep you updated with more ONE stories in coming days… One us.]]>
