Rumour mills can bury now. Samsung has made Galaxy Note 5 official today at simultaneous press events in London and New York City.
As expected, the new Note adopts the new design language and materials Samsung tried out with the S6 and S Edge and no one complaints about it. So shedding the polycarbonate shell, the new Galaxy Note 5 is now clad in metal and glass enclosure and features the signature of the Note series, the S Pen that now packs more functionality.
While the display of the Note series has grown in every iteration, Samsung has put the stopper and retained the 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display size. Again true to their pedigree, the Note 5 is also a beast in terms of specs. It boasts of a Exynos 7420 chipset with a 14nm FinFET octa-core processor with four Cortex A57 cores running at up to 2.1GHz, and four more power-efficient A53 cores clocked at up to 1.5GH, 4GB of RAM, Mali-T760MP8 GPU. Incidentally, the Note 5 is Samsung’s first phone to be equipped with 4GB of RAM. There is a choice of 32 / 64GB. The downer? There is no expandable memory slot and surprisingly, Samsung does not talk about 128GB for the power users. Similarly, the 3000mAh battery is non-removable too. Again pushing the envelope further, Samsung has introduced fast wireless charging and the battery as company claims would go from zero to full charge in 2 hours flat.
Weighing 171grams, the dimensions of the phone are 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6mm. Similar to the Galaxy S6, there is a finger print sensor that can be touched to activate.
When we talk about the Note series, obviously the core focus is on the S Pen functionality. In Note 5, unlike the previous generations where we have to pull the S Pen from its slot, you just need to give it a gentle push and it pops out via a spring-loaded mechanism. It should be much easier this way. It also comes with set of new features. The main pick of course is the option to write notes right from the lockscreen. Yes, with the phone sleeping and without need to unlock you can just jot down on the black screen just like any piece of paper.
The Note 5 is also the first phone from Samsung to handle Samsung Pay. Initially to debut in US, it could work in any place and support any card as it works on both Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near-Field Communications (NFC) for transaction.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 features a 16-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), while up front there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Both the front and rear cameras are equipped with f/1.9 lenses. The Galaxy S6 had the best camera one can buy on Smartphone and there is no reason why Note 5 should disappoint.

Samsung also announced a quirky keyboard cover, that doubles both as a flip cover as well as a keyboard that seems to be working charmingly well.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 is officially announced today and pre-orders begin today at 3pm ET in United States, while official sales start in just a week, on August 21st. We shall update on the India launch date as and when we get the news.

We don’t expect the Galaxy Note to come cheaper but Samsung launched today the Note 4 in India at a price that might send shock waves to even the biggest fan of the device. A MRP of Rs 61,500 and a MOP (Market Operative Price) of Rs 58,500 for the 32GB variant is really for the fattest purses.
The Galaxy Note 4 though comes with the best of the specs and features that money can buy now in Android world. We have the 5.7-Super AMOLED display with a whopping 551 pixels stashed in the QHD display i.e, a resounding 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. We are talking about the similar eye-popping brilliant display we saw in Galaxy Tab S but all in a 5.7 inch screen.
Clad with a metal frame on the sides it still retains the plastic faux leather back panel. It is 8.5 mm thin and weighs 176 grams.
It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 system-on-chip which houses a quad-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.
The stand-out of the Note series is the S-Pen functionality and we have seen it get better and neater every year. Samsung claims a better pressure sensitivity and few new features like S-Select that helps you in smartly and easily select the pictures, texts and works like a mouse.
The camera department holds up a 16-megapixel back camera with an enhanced optical image stabilization and a 3-megapixel front camera with a better low light abilities.
The front camera should also be a selfie’s dream with a 120 -degree wide angle with a ‘groufie’ feature to accommodate a whole lot of real estate.
With a QHD display, battery would always be a concern but Samsung has been able to muster enough battery juice in every iterations. Note 4 gets 3220 mAh battery and more importantly, the company says it can fast recharge up to 50 percent in some 30 minutes which is really good.
The Note 4 will run Android 4.4 KitKat with the newly spruced up TouchWiz UI on top. Connectivity options on the Note 4 are top-of-the-line too with Wi-Fi ac, GPS with Glonass, NFC, Bluetooth v 4.1 (BLE,ANT+), IR LED, USB 2.0, and MHL 3.0.

Alongside unveiling the expected Galaxy Note 4, Samsung threw a surprise with an bold and bend(ifull), Galaxy Note Edge. Remember Samsung’s YOUM project experimenting with a wrap around curved display? Note Edge is the commercial start of the R&D.
Note Edge’s internals are more or less identical to the Note 4 we outlined in the previous post, sharing the same chipset, technical prowess and software enhancements but this one has little more tricks up its sleeves thanks to the second display. Though the main display at 5.6 inch is tad smaller than the Note 4 but there is a secondary display wrapped to the right side edge. The display is the same stunning QHD but there is an extra row of 160 pixels for the edge display.

On the lines of Note 4, the Galaxy Note Edge is powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core CPU. Depending on the market, the Note 4 could be equipped with 2.7GHz quad-core processor or 1.9GHz octa-core processor. Then we have 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and an expandable microSDXC card slot that can accommodate a further 64GB. The S-Pen and its functionality remains the same as well.

The introduction of an extra curved display opens up windows of new possibilities and functionality and Samsung has worked upon a revolving UX to make good use of it. The edge display can display the notifications and messages and also depending on the apps can stage the shortcuts and settings. For eg, if you are using the camera, the shortcuts can get positioned on the edge display or say if you are watching a video, the controls can rest there so as to keep the main display obstruction-free. You can also lists shortcuts to various apps on the side panel for quick access.
One of a simple usage is clock face. When the main display is dark or in lock screen, the edge display reveals a watch face which is great as a bedside clock or table clock when the phone is idle. Samsung would be open the SDK for developers so there is a possibility of new apps taking advantage of this innovative display.

One main concern of course would be the durability, as the side panel would be prone to damage. Samsung has not revealed the pricing yet but expect a premium for the product but it is sure to attract many eye-balls when you carry it.]]>

The original Galaxy Note was a game changer. While initially the critics scoffed at the idea of a ‘phablet’ and many thought it was a ridiculous to hold such a big device as Smartphone, the Note went on to become a huge success and it shifted the mobile world to big screens. Since then, Samsung has been updating the Note series every year with new iteration with notable enhancements. We can bluntly say, so far none of its rivals had managed to match the powers of the S-Pen and its functionality. Come 2014 IFA, time for the 4th generation Note to be announced and here it is the latest Galaxy Note 4.

Galaxy Note 4 Specifications:

5.7-inch Super AMOLED display

2560×1440 pixel resolution

551 ppi

2.7GHz quad-core processor or 1.9GHz octa-core processor

3GB of RAM

16-megapixel pixel with Smart optical image stabilization

32GB storage, microSD card slot

153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5mm

176 grams

3220mAh battery

Fast charging that can take you from 0 percent to 50 percent charge level in around 30 minutes

Android 4.4 KitKat

Charcoal Black, Frost White, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink

Every Galaxy Note iteration has seen an increase in the display size but the trend stops here, thankfully. It would be insane to push it further so we have the 5.7-Super AMOLED display but what differentiates this display from the last year’s model is the resolution. A whopping 551 pixels are stashed in the QHD display i.e, a resounding 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. We are talking about the similar eye-popping brilliant display we saw in Galaxy Tab S but all in a 5.7 inch screen.
The look and feel also is similar to the last year’s model but we have a metal frame on the sides while still retaining the plastic faux leather back panel. It is 8.5 mm thin and weighs 176 grams.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available in four colours: Black, White, Gold and Pink, and the global rollout will begin October onwards for an unlocked price of $993 (approx Rs 56,160).

3.7-megapixel front-facing camera, f/1.9 lens, 120 degree wide angle

Specs-wise and features wise the 2014 edition makes a huge leap ahead from the previous generation.

The start of IFA event in Berlin has become a routine fixture by now for the next generation of Samsung's hugely popular Note edition to be unveiled. So come IFA 2013, Samsung as expected announced the Galaxy Note 3 in their second unpacked event this year along with Galaxy Gear and Note 10.1 2014 tablet edition.
Launched first in 2011, Galaxy Note virtually opened the gates for the phablet craze and also brought back stylus into focus with S-Pen to which Samsung has added interesting, intuitive and laudable features.
Now that the Note 3 is finally here, how does it compare with its highly acclaimed predecessors?
Let's begin with specs first.
Every generation of Samsung Galaxy Note has seen a .2 inch incremental increase in the display and the trend continues with Note 3 too. The Galaxy Note 3 comes with a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display and the resolution is upped to 1920 x 1080, giving it 397 pixels per inch. It runs on a Quad-core Snapdragon 800 Processor that's clocked at 2.3 GHz and has 3GB of RAM. As expected in the lines of Galaxy S4, the back touts a 13 megapixel camera with Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash but Samsung has raised the bar again with the camera now capable of 4k video capture. A 1.9 megapixel camera finds its place in the front. Doing away with the 16 GB internal storage option, the device features either 32 or 64GB which is a good news. Again you can use the microSD card slot for additional storage. Out of box, the device comes with the latest to date, Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and the battery which has always been impressive enough in Note series also sees a marginal bump with a 3200 mAh nested inside.
And then of course there is the highlight of the Note series, the S-Pen which is now symmetrical which means you can simply push it into its slot without having to worry about the right way up.
Design-wise Samsung has meted out some surprising yet pleasant changes to Galaxy Note 3. The highlight is the back panel with Samsung ditching its fondness for shiny plastic and instead using a peculiar textured faux-leather backing with even details to stitching pattern. The sides has a faux-metal band and on close scrutiny they have fine lines reminding of hardcover note pages. The overall design shape of the Note 3 reverts to the original Galaxy Note with sharper corners.
In spite of having a larger screen, Note 3 maintains the same width as the previous generation, Galaxy Note II courtesy small bezels. The device is also slimmer (8.3mm) and lighter (168g) in it’s new avatar.
In total, Galaxy Note 3 is a step forward on design scale and looks appealing and beautiful especially with the faux-leather backing.
Samsung has done incredible job with S-Pen. It’s no ordinary stylus like any other in market. In the age of touch-screens, Samsung has literally revolutionized the application of it’s S-Pen with amazing software features in Galaxy Note. It has also managed to enhance the S-Pen features with every new Note editions.

An important software addition is the new Air Command functionality. A small pop-up window that automatically springs up on the screen when the S-Pen is pulled out and offers quick access to S-Pen features like Action Memo, Scrapbook, S Finder search option and S Note. At any point of time when the assigned button on the S-Pen is clicked while the pen is hovered above the screen, it pops the Air Commond feature.

Samsung has released a video talking about the new enhanced features of S Pen and what one can do with it in every day life. Check the video below

Remember the 8-inch mini tablet that Samsung outed in World Mobile Congress 2013. Yes, we are talking about Galaxy Note 8.0, the iPad mini challenger with the impressive S-Pen included. It’s the second tablet in the Note category after the 10″ Galaxy Note 10.1.

Samsung has chosen to name the Galaxy Note 8.0 as Samsung Galaxy Note 510 in India and is available now in Samsung India eStore for Rs. 30,900.
Powered by an Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, and running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, Galaxy Note 510 has a 8-inch WXGA TFT screen display, 800 x 1280 pixels resolutions (189 ppi) and also a very impressive 2 GB RAM. The tablet has an internal storage of 16GB. Its memory is expandable up to 64 GB using a microSD card. A 5 mega pixel in the rear and a 1.3 MP front camera fills the camera specs. A 4600 mAh battery should see it through good usage.
The highlight and selling point of the device is the S-Pen which Samsung has successfully used as a key differentiator and a category mover since it announced it’s first Galaxy Note device back in 2011. S-Pen is further enhanced and does a lot of magic on-screen which comes handy for many professionals and artists in you thanks to S Pen optimized features like Air View, Popup Note, Popup Video, Shape Match, Formula Match and Idea Sketch.
The Galaxy Note 510 fills a gap in S-Pen enabled devices between the 5.5 inch Galaxy Note II smartphone and the Galaxy Note 10.1, a full-size tablet.
Priced at Rs. 30,900 the pre-order the company also offers a free book cover for the device worth Rs. 2699 free.
