Asus, the Taiwanese company unveiled the dual-SIM variant of FonePad 7 at World Mobile Congress at Barcelona earlier this year. Today the company launched the tablet in India for Rs 12,999.
Asus FonePad 7 itself was announced first back in September last year during IFA event at Berlin as a single-SIM variant. While the original FonePad 7 runs on 1.6GHz Clover Trail Plus Z2560 dual-core processor, the dual-SIM variant is powered by 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core SoC.
The tablet comes with a 7-inch IPS display with a 1280×800 pixels resolution (216 ppi) and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with a layer of Asus's own UI. The processor is supported by a 1GB of RAM and there is an 16GB of internal storage which can be hiked up to 64GB using a microSD card. A non-removable 3,950mAh battery finds place and the company claims a 28 hours of talk time.
On the camera side, there is a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2 megapixel front camera. Other connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS support.
At this price point, Asus FonePad 7 is pitted against Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and the Lenovo Idea Tab A3000. We will see how it compares against them in another article.
