While most companies are fighting out at the sub-10K price segment, Celkon is one company that quietly makes their moves in the sub-5K segment with many handsets and cornering a healthy pie of the market.
Their new offering Campus A518 comes with a 5-inch display but priced attractively at Rs 4,500. The press release we received talked about a 1GHz processor and silent on the details. We assume its a single-core and has less than a 1GB of RAM. We will get in touch with the company for more details on it. The dual-SIM Smartphone runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and has a 4GB of internal storage with an option for external card that can accommodate up to 32GB. There is a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and it even gets a 1.3MP front camera (not bad, eh!) A 2000mAh battery finds place.
The device is available in black and white variants. For Rs 4,500 you even get a flip case and screen guard out of the box, pretty neat ha! In a price-sensitive market, every drop of 500 Rs matters a lot and I feel Campus A518 might have a larger audience who would be interested.]]>

Entry-level budget smartphones usually comes with a tad older OS but Celkon sprang a surprise today by launching Celkon Campus A35K smartphone running on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. Priced at rock bottom Rs 2,999, the device is a smartphone at a feature phone price.
To be available exclusively on e-commerce portal, SnapDeal.com from the 16th of June, the dual-SIM Campus A35K comes with a 3.5-inch display with a 480×320 pixel resolution. It is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor and 256MB RAM and 512MB of internal storage with an expandable memory slot. The 256MB RAM sounds awfully low but the Android KitKat software can pull it through this measly sum of RAM.
The camera specs are much better for this very basic entry-level smartphone with a dual-camera set up comprising of a 2MP rear camera with flash and a VGA front camera.
A 1400mAh battery finds its place in the rear and the connectivity options include 3G, which again is a bit of a surprise at this price point and standards like Bluetooth and WiFi.
