SpeedFetch promises to fetch free contents swifter

A blazing high-speed 4G connection or even a modest 3G but then you worry about the data cap, sounds familiar dilemma right. Streaming or downloading videos on mobile data can be an expensive affair. A new startup wants to change the way data is being consumed in India and want to make it quicker and free. SpeedFetch is an app with a content library across various genres and has tied up with WiFi service provider, Ozone Networks for adoption of its service. Of course, its content can be accessed via its app from any WiFi or data plans but Ozone offers some free services linked to the app. The genres available currently are gossip videos, Hollywood news, Glamour videos, cartoons, movies, cookery, stories and rhymes and devotional videos. The app is available in Play store for android devices. Launched two months back, SpeedFetch founder, Dipank Sharma states “Speed and free content set Speed Fetch apart,” He further adds “It works through micro-caching where content resides on a Speed Fetch box, in a WiFi hotspot location, which allows for faster downloads. Since the download is via WiFi, the content is free of charge,” By partnering with Ozone, SpeedFetch allows users to download the content from their app for free for the first day regardless of the usage. Once the first 20 minutes free usage is been used, the users can buy hourly, daily or weekly data usage packs.

While at the Ozone WiFi hotspots the users can experience and avail the free downloadable video content listed on SpeedFetch app at speeds up to 60 Mbps. SpeedFetch plans to expand operations to 20,000 locations with access to 50 million consumers. Their immediate plan of action is to set footprint on 5,000 locations across India by the end of the year and net a customer base of two millions. We will keep an eye on this startup and see if it can fetch the right traction.
