Rapoo 7800p wireless mouse review

rapoo-7800p-package

The package content includes the wireless mouse, 5GHz USB dongle, a driver CD and a documentation with graphical guide.

Rapoo 7800p has shades of black around the body and has a mix of per-dominant glossy finish with matte side panels. Personally I prefer matte finish for my mouse but it’s a matter of individual preference. On a practical note the glossy finish can end up dirty easily but on a positive side, it is also easy to clean. Physically, the 7800p wireless laser mouse has a very good ergonomics, aptly contoured for the palm and fingers to effortlessly and naturally snuggle into it. It’s almost 124.6mm long, 78.1mm wide in dimension.

The layout of the mouse is conventional, with left- and right-click buttons as well as a four way scroll wheel that can also be used as a middle button. A little above the scroll wheel is a DPI button to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse on-the-fly, it toggles between 800 and 1600 dpi. A lower dpi gives a better accuracy while the higher setting fastens the movement.

To the side of the left click there is a zoom-in and zoom-out control. A little below towards the side panel is the forward and back button that can be accessed by the thumb. The list of controls is pretty exhaustive and comes handy in various practical usage.

Moving to the underneath of the 7800p you can see the power on/off button and the laser tracking engine. Peel the battery cover to fit in two AAA batteries. The package says the batteries last for 12 months and there is an indicator light on the mouse to let you know if they need to be replaced. Setting up the mouse is pretty easy and no need for configuring anything. All you have to do is plug in the 5G USB dongle and switch it on. 7800p can be customized by changing the mouse settings. For that you need to install the driver CD. Once installed it takes you to the mouse setting screen. From here you can change the settings of various mouse buttons to a wide array of key combinations for various shortcuts. There are a exhaustive list of shortcuts for various desktop operations which you can customize with the mouse. All the 11 buttons of the mouse including the four-wheel movement of the scroll wheel can be customized.
