It’s OnePlus India. The Chinese tech startup today announced its plans to start its first step in localization with partnering with Foxconn to assemble its Smartphones from India. It will make use of the Foxconn’s Rising Star facility in Siri City in Andhra Pradesh.
Talking about the India move, Peter Lay, Founder and CEO, OnePlus said “Today is a big day for us. Producing smartphones in India is one of the most important decisions we have made so far at OnePlus, and we are thankful to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Foxconn for helping us make this happen. India being one of our biggest markets worldwide, we are committed to a long-term sustainable growth path. This move will strengthen our presence and help us step up momentum in India,”OnePlus added that their 30,000 sq ft facility at Foxconn has a peak capacity of 500,000 units a month and will be scalable to meet the local demands. The OnePlus’s Make In India initiative will also give direct employment to some 1000 people. The first batch of Smartphones will rollout by the end of this year.
