New Motorola Moto X announced; comes to India this month end

At today’s launch event held at Chicago and New Delhi, Motorola took the wraps off the new Moto X along side the new Moto G and the Moto 360, SmartWatch. While it announced the price of the new Moto G, the company has not announced the pricing of the new device but mentioned it would arrive later this month to India. In US it is priced at $499.99 (unlocked) The 2014 Moto X is bigger, better and boasts of some new features. To start with, it has a bigger display all of 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED 1080 pixel display with a neat 423 ppi and has a Corning Gorilla Glass coating. It is powered by a better 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no external memory slot which is a bit of a dampener. The smartphone itself is also just a hair bigger now,  it measures 72.4mm wide by 140.8mm tall and it weighs about 144 grams. It is also thinner than the original Moto X but retains the same curved rear panel, it now measures 3.8mm at its thinnest to 9.9mm at the bulge. Instead of a plastic frame, the new Moto X has a smooth piece of aluminum rim around the edges. The camera sees an improvement too with a 13-megapixel rear camera with a ring LED flash and 4X zoom and capable of 4K recording. A 2-MP front camera finds place. There are two front-facing speakers this time , four microphones and the battery is a 2,300mAh.  While there is Android 4.4.4 KitKat now, it would be promptly updated to Android L when Google releases it. The camera app comes with some new features like “Best Shot” which automatically captures additional pictures before and after the shoot and gives an option to choose the better picture amongst the lot or discard them. A feature by name “Highlight Reel” makes a video collage of all the day’s photos and videos. The software is almost pure Android stock experience barring few pre-installed Motorola apps and there are marked improvements to the touchless controls, Motorola assist. With all the marked improvements, the now-Lenovo owned Motorola has the flagship device worth the money, yet again.        ]]>
