MediaTek's Pump Express 3.0 charges a smartphone from 0 to 70 in 20 minutes

There is a race to get your phone charged super fast and MediaTek upped their game by announcing the Pump Express 3.0 fast charging technology which promises to charge a smartphone from 0 to 70 percent in 20 minutes. (though the press release nor their official video did not mention the battery capacity, I assume it should be close to 2750mAh) MediaTek also says a mere five minutes charging can give up to 4 hours of talk time. MediaTek is increasingly finding its way into the budget and mid-range handsets and the Pump Express is the name of their fast charge technology. The Pump Express 3.0 would be implemented on MediaTek Helio series P20 SoC which was announced at GMC this February. Various OEMs are working on new models featuring this SoC  and they could make use of the fast charge technology for their models. The Taiwanese company also claims its direct charging feature,, which is a world’s first, enables the USB-C power deliver to directly charge the battery from the adapter, bypassing charging circuitry to avoid overheating the phone. This helps in helping the phone’s components from heating up. Further commenting on the safety mechanism the company says the new technology uses bi-directional communication and 20-plus safety and device protection systems built-in. https://youtu.be/mfWrF2NdkKQ   ers.]]>
