Kingston HyperX DataTraveler 3.0 (128GB) – Review

Kingston is one of a trusted name in memory components and in this article we are talking about HyperX DataTraveler, a high performance USB drive that acts more like a portable SSD. It’s quiet fast and we are talking about transfer rates of up to 255 MB/s read and 135 MB/s write. If you are working on huge files and constantly find yourself shifting files between your work stations and want to carry them with you, you can sneak them easily in your pocket with HyperX DT and not worry about transfer time either. The HyperX 3.0 comes in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities and we got the 128GB right here. The drive is encased in a solid casing made of durable metal and rubberized casing that ensures it is protected well. Being on a bulkier side, other devices plugged side by side might be a difficult affair. The HyperX DT comes in a combination of electric blue and black color consistent with the rest of their HyperX line, which includes SSDs and RAM.While the top face has the HyperX branding along with the drive capacity, the other face has the Kingston blending into the black color. When you hook the drive on the port there is a subtle blue access light that blinks. The plastic cap also gets the color continuity and the same texture as of the body. In our performance test, the Kingston HyperX DataTraveler is no slouch. It read a sequential write speeds of 110.2MB/s and read speads of 206.53MB/s.  A 3.25GB file got copied to the USB drive in just 93 seconds. We are not getting into the hardware benchmark tests but our practical performance tests puts HyperX DataTraveler a quick sprinter, rugged and comes handy in large file portability.
