Typing in Hindi becomes easy with Google Hindi Input App for Android

Google has some good news for Hindi aficionados. It has released an Android app, Google Hindi Input that transliterates Hindi words typed in English into the Devanagari script. So you still get the English keypad but as you type the phonetics of the Hindi words, it converts them into Devanagari script.

Transliteration is different from translation; the sound of the words is converted from one alphabet to the other, not the meaning. For example, if you type ‘Namaste’ in English, it will be converted to  नमस्ते .

Google Hindi Input App also gives you a default Hindi keyboard on Android Jelly Bean devices.
