The new Zenfone Max (2016) comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and Asus also has started rolling out the Marshmallow update to other ZenFone devices like the first generation Zenfone Max, Zenfone Laser and soon will cover many other devices in their portfolio. In case you wonder what changes the Marshmallow update brings in, here are the top 5 features that are worth mentioning.

Google Now On Tap

Google-Now-on-Tap Arguably the best feature of Marshmallow now comes to the ZenFone devices. Press the home button and Google Now picks the relevant keyword from the screen you are and tries to pull  related info, apps, and actions. You can quickly access the keyword(s) in search, Youtube, twitter, news and images.

Doze

Doze_marshmallow A feature that silently runs on background. When you leave your phone idle and there is absolutely no movement and the sensors are just resting, Doze kicks in. It puts the phone to near sleep except for high-priority apps like basic phone calls and SMS that wants to reach your attention but there is also an option where you can pick and choose the apps you want to keep awake when the phone is on doze. For that go to settings > Battery > you find three dots on the top right corner , tap that > battery optimization > choose all apps > from the list of apps, tap on the app you want to change the setting there you can choose if it should be optimized or not. Doze is a great power saver and can extend the battery life of your phone.

App Permissions

You can install an app and allow or deny permissions on a per-app basis. For example, If you think a gaming app has no business accessing your contacts, you can deny permissions.

The memory pattern can be tracked for 3 hours / 6 hours / 12 hours and 1 day. It shows all the apps that used memory in those duration. Along with other noticeable data like battery drained by the apps. So next time if you are worried by the sudden battery drain, you can pick the app that plays havoc. Alternatively you can go to settings > Apps and from the list of apps displayed, you can tap any app to get complete picture pertaining to memory, battery consumption and permissions it uses.

DND Alarm

DND-MarshmallowThe Do Not Disturb mode sees a refresh in Marshmallow. The DND can be accessed easily from the volume control or from the quick access settings panel from the toggle. You can also set your disturb rules.]]>
