More the competition, better for the consumers. Come 2016, we have LeTv setting up base in India and would be looking at replicating its content-device ecosystem in the country
On the sidelines of the launch event at Beijing, where it launched the Le 1S phone and the world’s largest smart TV – a 120 inch Le TV, Mr. Jia Yueting, founder of Letv said, “Letv could enter into India by early 2016.” LeTv is working on entering into partnership with local content providers and creators such as movies and TV shows to build its content ecosystem viable for the Indian market.
Unlike many other Chinese companies, LeTv stresses on the content as well as the devices. It aims to build an content library to leverage on its Eco User Interface. The twin approach has found good success in the Chinese markets and it would like to tap the same in the entertainment heavy Indian market.
LeTv also plans to set up its production lines as well as R&D centres in India to build on the Indian government’s proactive approach to make in India initiative.
