Kobo launches its e-readers and tablets in India, price starts at Rs 7,999

Kobo, the Canada based e-reading services and tablets company makes its foray into Indian market by launching four of its devices with price starting at Rs 7,999. The product portfolio for India include three e-readers – Kobo Touch, Kobo Glo,  Kobo Aura HD and Kobo Arc, a 7-inch android tablet. Beginning today Kobo products will be available through Croma, Crossword, and WHSmith retail stores. To cash in on the Diwali festival, the company has also announced a promotional offer for its devices. Kobo Touch is the base model available in India and is priced at Rs. 7,999.  Though for a limited period till November 3 it can be availed for a discounted price of Rs. 6,999. Kobo Touch e-reader is equipped with an anti-glare 6” Pearl E Ink touchscreen and gives the closest experience to reading print on paper even in bright sunlight. Next up on the e-reader product line is the Kobo Glo, priced at 10,999. Targetted aggressively at the reading community, Kobo Glo features an adjustable no-glare ComfortLight technology for very comfortable reading by directing the lights at the pages and not at eyes. It also uses a high-res Pearl E Ink screen for ultra sharp and crisp text. Kobo Auro HD comes with a 6.8 inch WXGA+ Pearl E Ink Screen display with ClarityPlus+ technology offering a 1440 x 1080 resolution. It also boasts of a high degree screen durability. It is priced at Rs 13,999. For those who love multimedia experience and enjoy the Android apps, the 7-inch Kobo Arc runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1. The OS experience is enhanced by Kobo’s exclusive interface, Tapestries.  The interface offers a unique method to organize contents and also make recommendations based on your interactions. Kobo Arc tablet is priced at Rs.11, 999 but during this festive season it is available for Rs 9,999. Apart from the lineup of devices, Kobo also has a rich reading platform with a large catalogue of books in various genres.  Kobo apps are also available in various platforms including Android, iOS and Blackberry. ]]>
