Huawei Ascend Mate featuring a 6.1-inch display launched in India for Rs 24,900

Think big. Think bigger. Of late the smartphone makers are literally taking the ‘bigger’ part way too seriously. The 6-inch plus is the new phablet size range which is alarmingly threatening to spill over to mini tablet territory. Earlier this year at CES, Huawei Ascend Mate was launched, the Chinese company’s 6.1-inch smartphone but soon later Samsung took the limelight by launching it’s Galaxy Mega 6.3 with a 6.3-inch display and also launching it last month in India. Ascend_Mate Better late than never and with the market iron hot for bigger phones, it’s the right time to hit it. Today Huawei launched Ascend Mate in India for Rs. 24,900 which is almost 6,000 less than Galaxy Mega 6.3 Ascend Mate features a 6.1 inch IPS display with a 720×1280 pixel resolution that can be operated with the gloves on thanks to the Magic Touch technology. Incidentally Nokia Lumia 920 also shares this technology. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean that is masked under the Huawei’s Emotion UI. On the hardware internals, the device is powered by a quad-core Huawei K3V2 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM, a 8 megapixel rear camera, 1 mega pixel front camera and a beefy non-removable 4,050 mAh battery. The battery span is further boosted with Huawei’s Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX) and Quick Power Control (QPC). On the measure scale Huawei Ascend Mate  reads 163.5 x 85.7 x 9.9 mm and weighs 198 grams. ]]>
