Much has been talked since then about the Galaxy tab 2 even as Samsung did not disclose when the slate would hit the stores but now its finally here on US shores. Pre-orders for the 7″ Galaxy Tab 2 costing 250$  opens from 12th April, while the retail availability would be from  April 22.  Though one has to wait till May to pre-book the 10-inch version costing $400 when pre-order opens on May 4 and hit the retail stores from May 13.

Already comparisons has been all over and many claiming Amazon Kindle Fire costing 50$ less is a better buy than the new Galaxy slate in the rack.

Here is 1o reason why Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) betters Amazon Kindle Fire

  1. Samsung Galaxy 2 runs on latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS where as Amazon Kindle is heavily custom dressed on previous generation Android Gingerbread.
  2. With Samsung Galaxy 2 like all other Android tablets, you have free highway access to Google Play store but with Amazon Kindle Fire you are locked  with Amazon’s very own App store. And majority of the buyers are not going to unlock and void the warranty.
  3. Samsung Galaxy tab 2 smiles with a 1 GB of RAM where as the Kindle Fire sparks only 512 MB RAM.
  4. For those who crib over Samsung’s TouchWiz skin over Android OS, you will find it more authentic than what Amazon did with its heavily dressed up version of Android Gingerbread.
  5. MicroSD card! You always run out of memoy right? Tab 2 comes with a 8 GB internal memory and an expandable microSD card slot that you can fit upto 32 GB.  Go for Amazon Kindle and learn to be happy with 8GB internal memory (approximately 6GB available for user content), no microSD card here please!
  6. Did you say cloud storage? Samsung now gives a complimentary one year free 50 GB  storage Dropbox account and yes Amazon do offer you free cloud storage but limited to amazon content.
  7. And did you talk about Amazon’s services and kindle? Well you just have to download the Kindle app from the Google play store.
  8. Weighing 345 grams and measuring 7.6 x 4.8 x 0.41 inches, Galaxy Tab 2  is noticeably thinner and lighter than the 413 grams, 7.5 x 4.7 x 0.45-inch Amazon Kindle Fire.
  9. On skype? or any of your favourite video talk apps? Your mom, grandpa or wife or your over caring neighbour wants to see you? Galaxy tab comes with eye where as Kindle Fire is blind. Sorry no cameras to fire you.
  10. And hey! Now your Galaxy Tab 2 can also be your TV remote thanks to the Peel app ( Peel Smart Remote) and it comes with an impressive Smart Remote Feature that understands your  preferred programs and start suggesting your favourite shows and movies from the channel guide.
So do you agree?  What say Samsung fan boys and kindle fire boys?]]>
